View this email in your browser | Forward this email to a friend Last month, one of the things I touched upon is the upcoming senior prom and after-parties season in May and June. This is is one of the most important events in a teen's high school experience but for some it's another reason to worry and feel stressed. Overweight teens do worry and are anxious about finding a decent dress or tuxedo in their size. This is especially so for girls. At this time, most have identified their dresses and tuxes, and even if those kids have a lot of weight to lose, losing just enough to be down a size or two before final fittings will make them feel so much better in their own skin for the prom events. And, from my own experience in dealing with graduating seniors, when prom is the catalyst to lose weight, and they feel great heading into summer, they want to continue throughout the summer to get to goal, or as close to it as possible, before heading off to college at the end of summer. Getting slim, and getting great eating habits under their belts now, will give them the best chance to NOT gain 20 pounds the first year in college. To all others, look outside. The snow is gone. The sun is out. The weather is warmer. The big jackets and loose sweatshirts and sweaters are coming off, to be replaced by shorts, T-shirts and summer dresses. Are you ready? Do you feel good about how you look? If you're overweight or obese, here's a newsflash: It AIN'T gonna get better during the summer. It'll only get worse unless you put the skids on. Your goal now should be to get all or a significant amount of your weight off before the fall and the holiday season that begins soon thereafter.
