Well, folks, here we are: July. The 7th month of the year . . . which means we've passed the half-way mark on the calendar . . . which means, believe it or not, that the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are just 4 and 5 months away. Amazing how the time just flies, right? So many clients join right after New Year's because their resolution is to lose their fat once and for all and be slim by summer. And after that . . . a slip here, a cheat there, a vacation, a bout with the flu, a business trip, and so forth . . . a few days here, a week there, where things don't go well. And in their minds they think it's not such a big deal, they'll get back on track the next morning after the cheat, as soon as they get home from vacation or a business trip, as soon they're done with the flu. And all the while the clock is ticking and the weeks are passing. For those for whom the above scenarios apply, whose New Year's resolution was to lose weight for this summer season . . . the hardest time of year will soon be upon us: the fall. In early-to-mid-August we'll be getting primary school kids their school clothes, books and supplies; in mid-to-end August we'll be returning our college kids back to campus; followed shortly thereafter by the Halloween candies that are everywhere; then in rapid fire; Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's. So, if you've been lackadaisical in dealing with your weight thus far this year, move the stick-shift up a notch and take your need to remove fat from your body to the next level. Because if you don't, if you close your eyes, and click your heels twice, like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, you won't end up back in Kansas but you WILL end up right where you began earlier THIS year NEXT year: fat and unhappy and very disappointed that you are about to begin the new year exactly as you began your last year. THAT is how fast the next 4 to 5 months will pass. If you did not reach your goal to be slim by the summer, commit now to use the remaining days and weeks of July and August to your benefit, or not. Either way, the calendar pages turn with you or without you. Will you go into the fall/winter holiday season slim and in control, or not? ~ Lori Boxer |
