“One has no right to harm his body, for it is not his property, but God’s.” ~ Code of Jewish Law
Every week I encourage my clients:
“Great job this week – stay focused.”
“Keep up the good work.”
“Don’t worry about the slip-up – just move forward.”
“Have a slim weekend.”
And almost every time, they respond:
“God willing.”
It’s a beautiful expression of faith. But too often it becomes a way to postpone personal responsibility instead of embracing it.
My reaction?
God IS willing. He already gave us the mind to make choices, the body that responds to what we feed it, the strength to move, the free will to say no to the extra portion, and the day in front of us to use wisely. He’s already done His part.
Now it’s time for us to do ours.
The Torah is full of examples:
✅ God parted the Red Sea – but the people still had to walk through it.
✅ He gave Noah the instructions – but Noah still had to build the ark.
✅ He promised the victory – but Joshua and the people still had to march.
Faith without effort keeps the scale exactly where it is. Prayer without action is just wishing.
God is willing. The real question is: Are YOU finally willing?
Next time “God willing” comes to mind, try adding the second half: “God is willing . . . and today, so am I.”
One small, practical step to start today:
When you sit down to your next meal, pause for a moment. Ask yourself: “Is this choice moving me closer to the health God wants for me?” Then decide.
Pair your deep faith with daily discipline.
God is willing. Now prove YOU are.
Slimcerely yours℠,
