Workforce Weight Loss℠

Obesity in the workplace remains at epidemic proportions: roughly two-thirds of the American workforce is overweight or obese (about 34% overweight + 30% with obesity). These employees face a significantly higher risk for serious conditions such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke — driving substantially higher healthcare costs for employers.

As compared to their healthier, normal-weight counterparts:

  • Employees with obesity miss an average of ~3 extra workdays per year due to illness or injury.

  • Obesity drives significantly higher workers’ compensation claims, longer recovery times, and elevated medical costs.

  • The average additional annual cost to employers per employee with obesity is ~$6,472 (and ~$1,244 per overweight employee).

  • Excess weight costs U.S. employers and employees a combined $425.5 billion annually.

Slimmer, healthier employees translate into lower absenteeism, reduced medical claims, fewer workers’ comp issues, and lower overall premiums — a direct win for your bottom line.

Is a Workforce Weight Loss℠ Program right for your business?

Are you a business owner or executive who pays all or part of your employees’ medical benefits and health insurance?

Are rising premiums forcing you to consider higher contributions from overweight employees?

Have the costs and complexities of healthcare benefits led you to reduce headcount, cut hours, or hesitate on hiring or promoting talented people?

As a business owner or leader, ask yourself:

1⃣  What would it mean to your bottom line if you offered a meaningful incentive for overweight and obese employees to lose weight and improve their health?

2⃣  What if you could decrease absenteeism and medical claims while boosting energy, focus, productivity, and leadership presence across your team?

3⃣  How would a healthier workforce help you secure better, more affordable insurance options with less cost passed on to employees?

The answer is not installing healthier vending machines, cafeteria options, free gym memberships, or generic wellness programs. Those are nice perks — but they rarely deliver real, sustained weight loss results.

How does a Workforce Weight Loss℠ Program work?

Just as I customize every individual program, I design every corporate program to fit the unique needs of your business.

To incentivize your employees to achieve lasting weight loss and optimum health, a custom Workforce Weight Loss℠ Program might include you covering part or all of the program costs upfront, with reimbursement to the employee tied to measurable benchmarks (such as consistent attendance and documented progress).

This per-participating-employee model is straightforward, results-oriented, and gives employers clear accountability while making the program accessible and motivating for employees.

Through private one-on-one coaching sessions (twice a week by appointment), either in my office, via phone/email/video, or a combination, I provide the discipline, guidance, structure, and accountability each participant needs to succeed.
