As all clients, past and present, know, I, and my mom before me, have always used 4 words to succinctly sum up the wide-ranging services we provide and why we’ve been so successful for almost three decades:
👍 Discipline
👍 Guidance
👍 Structure
👍 Accountability
But what exactly is A𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲?
The easiest way to explain accountability is to describe what life is like without it.
❓ If you say you’re going to eat a healthy dinner, but don’t, who is there to ask you about it?
❓ If you say you’re going to exercise after work, but don’t, does anyone care?
❓ If you give yourself 30 days to lose a few pounds, does anyone know? And if they do, will they ask you about it?
In essence, this is what it’s like living with zero accountability:
✅ No one asks.
✅ No one knows.
✅ No one holds you to what you said you were going to do.
The power behind accountability is that we behave differently when someone is counting on us.
📌 We don’t drag ourselves out of bed for a 6 a.m. run with a buddy or a 7 a.m. personal training appointment at the gym because we don’t want to let ourselves down. We do it because we don’t want to let someone else down.
📌 We don’t pay bills, race home to cook dinner and start on homework with the kids because that’s something WE want to do. We do it because our family depends on us.
When you try to lose weight without accountability, it’s way too easy to quit.
With accountability, however, someone 𝑖𝑠 watching. Someone who wants you to hit your goal. Someone that’s going to ask . . .
❓ “You said we were going to sign up at the gym, how did that go?”
❓ “You had a good plan for when you were away this weekend. Run into any problems?”
❓ “How are you going to make this week better than last week?”
❓ “I gave you a Personal Organizing Planner and asked you to time-block Menu Planning, Grocery Shopping and Meal Prep into your weekly schedule. Did you do it? Let me see it.”
See the difference?
There may be many reasons why you haven’t been able to reach your weight loss, fitness and health goals but the main reason, no doubt, is the lack of accountability to someone other than yourself!
✅ Someone who is 100% behind you all the time, ready to push you when your own “push” just isn’t enough.
✅ Someone who will support and genuinely want to help you progress.
✅ Someone who is equipped with the commitment, knowledge and experiences needed to get you where you want to be.
✅ Someone who is not afraid to put personal feelings aside to let you know in no uncertain terms that you will only be letting yourself down if you don’t “do it.”
✅ Someone who will assume the super cheer-leader role when needed that gets you re-motivated and re-acquainted with the reasons you began your quest in the first place.
When it comes to weight loss, health and fitness goals, there is no better solution than adding accountability into your life for the best chance to achieve success.
