Had a conversation with a Los Angeles client on Monday morning (10/21). He was so excited to tell me how the day before he and his wife took some of his grandchildren (along with their parents) to Disneyland. He told me how the “old” him loved going on rollercoasters, but it got to a point that because of his weight he could no longer fit properly (or safely); the lap bar and over-the-shoulder restraints closed, but barely, and pressed into his belly. Additionally, he would become very nauseous. So, he stopped going on rollercoasters altogether. Well, 45 pounds down, a new body, and on Sunday he went on Space Mountain – twice! – and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and some other rides.
Why do I bring this up?
Because I tell adults all the time that it’s great to be able to afford to take your kids or grandkids to amusements parks. But the fun is not in paying for it. Neither is it fun standing down and being the one to take the pictures of your loved ones on the rides. The REAL fun is having no physical weight-related limitations preventing you from being ON the rides with your loved ones and IN the photos with your loved ones. Those are the memories that will last forever for them.
