Time vs Priority Management

At some point in our lives, it’s safe to say that most of us have experienced what happens when time management is not utilized.

The fact is, good time management is essential for success, both personally and professionally. It allows us to accomplish more in a shorter period of time, which leads to more free time, which lets us take advantage of learning opportunities, lowers our stress, and helps us focus, which leads to more success. Each benefit of time management improves another aspect of our life. All we have to do is get the cycle started.

Putting aside the rare occasion when something comes up out of left field that I just couldn’t plan for, as happens to all of us, I seldom struggle with time management because I time-block my absolute, must-do’s, and I don’t let anything or anyone come between me and what I’ve scheduled myself to do. This commitment to myself, and my well-being, allows me to accomplish more in a shorter period of time, which leads to more free time, which lets me take advantage of what I love to do (such as reading and going to the gym), wards off stress, and helps me focus intently on my priorities.

I work with clients on time-blocking their self-care/weight loss must do’s all the time.

Time management is about prioritizing, and John C. Maxwell said it best, “Time management is an oxymoron. Time is beyond our control, and the clock keeps ticking regardless of how we lead our lives. Priority management is the answer to maximizing the time we have.”
