Breast cancer types found in women under 40 are often more aggressive than those in older women and are frequently discovered at a later stage in the development of the disease. Unfortunately, breast cancer death rates are inching up in American women under age 40 again, after more than two decades of decline, and increased occurrences were in the more “estrogen positive” pathologies of the disease.

Why is this relevant?

While genetics are always possible causes, a more likely reason is the several decades long rising obesity rates in girls, teens and young adults.

Stored fat over a long period of time . . .

= more estrogen produced
= more chronic inflammation of organs and tissues
= weaker immunity of those organs and tissues

The more compromised organs and tissues become, the more “attractive” or receptive they are to cancer (like moths to a flame) because tumors feed off estrogen!

Four important points to remember when it comes to breast cancer and young women:

📌It tends to be diagnosed in its later stages and be more aggressive.

📌There’s a higher mortality rate and higher risk of metastatic recurrence (return of breast cancer in areas beyond the breast).

📌The incidence of metastatic breast cancer at the time of initial diagnosis is rising in young women.

📌Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women who are pregnant or have recently given birth.
