If you think there’s an exception when it comes to indulging in “just one” fatty meal, think again!

Damage to arteries actually occurs within only a matter of hours after just one fast food meal!

We have about 25 trillion red blood cells that affect all other cells in the body.

They carry cholesterol and nitric oxide through the cardiovascular system, which influences the elasticity of blood vessels. They also carry oxygen through the blood.

Scientists divided 10 healthy men — regular exercisers with healthy levels of cholesterol and lipids in their blood.

Five were fed a super-high-fat milkshake, with fat individually calculated: They were given levels of fat proportionate to their body weight.

Five were fed the same number of calories, but low in fat.

Biochemical tests were taken of the men 4 hours after the meals.

Normally, red blood cells are nice and smooth. After consuming the high-fat meal, they became smaller and got spikes on them. These spikes make them damaging to blood vessels and sets the ground for heart disease.

Damage 𝑖𝑠 reversible: Changes tend to go away after 8 hours except when one high-fat meal is followed by another.
