Have No Regrets: Be Happy

Bronnie Ware spent several years working in palliative care caring for patients in the last 12 weeks of their lives. She recorded their dying epiphanies in a blog called “Inspiration and Chai,” which gathered so much attention that she put her observations into a book, “The Top Five Regrets of the Dying,” published in 2011.

One of those top 5 regrets was “𝐼 𝑤𝑖𝑠ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐼 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑙𝑒𝑡 𝑚𝑦𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓 𝑏𝑒 ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑖𝑒𝑟.”

She wrote:

“𝑀𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑑𝑖𝑑 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑧𝑒 𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑖𝑐𝑒. 𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑦 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑦𝑒𝑑 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑐𝑘 𝑖𝑛 𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝑝𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑡𝑠. This shows that people felt that while attaining their happiness was in their control, they somehow didn’t allow themselves to do the things that would make them happy.

Too often what we want most — or will be best for us — is often what we most resist.

Happiness isn’t a destination at the end of our journey.

It isn’t something we chase to get to it.

It is a daily choice.

Happiness fuels our success – not the other way around.

You 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡 to be slim and healthy.

It’s 𝑏𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟 to be slim and healthy.

Stop the resistance.

Go at it. Every day.

Be happy. 😊
