Given up? Resigned yourself to being overweight or obese?
A resignation mind set usually starts because weight loss efforts have simply not happened fast enough for your liking. So you stop . . . repeatedly.
👉🏻 If you don’t want to have to keep restarting, don’t stop.
Slow and steady is better and safer than fast weight loss. When you lose weight slowly, even though it seems to take forever, you end up keeping the weight off long term.
👉🏻 When progress takes longer, that’s a good thing.
You must accept, from the start, that it’s going to take time. If you do this, it will be easy to avoid giving up and resigning yourself to being fat.
Two other things that can trigger a “give up” attitude:
📌 A diet that’s too restrictive. When you plan a diet that’s very strict, you’re setting yourself up for failure. No one wants to be hungry.
📌 Deciding you have to eliminate all the foods you like from your diet. This always backfires.
Eat the majority of your meals and snacks based on healthy choices (lean meats, fruits, veggies, whole grains) and occasionally plan to indulge in your favorite meal or snack. The key word is “plan.” Never to do it on a whim. That always makes you feel worse.
