A client eats something they know isn’t part of their weight loss plan and immediately feels badly.

They look at themselves in a mirror and call themselves an unflattering name.

Then, they eat something else bad and something else worse and 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 of something else’s that they have no business eating.

The downward shame spiral is in full force.

The great thing about downward spirals is that anyone can turn themselves around and head back up before they hit bottom.

✅ I’ll read back to a client, in their own words from our very first meeting, their top three reasons for wanting to lose weight, and ask if those reasons still apply.

✅ I’ll ask them to pat themselves on the back for making the initial call to me for help.

✅ I’ll remind them of milestones achieved thus far and to recall how empowered they felt when they reached them.

When you find yourself on a downward spiral, haul yourself back up and keep going.
