Few businesses, regardless of size, have escaped the need for major change or evolution over the last decade, especially as new technologies have reshaped (and continue to do so) entire industries.

Change is, at its core, a people process, and people are creatures of habit, hardwired to resist adopting new mind-sets, practices, and behaviors. To achieve and sustain transformational change, companies must embed these mind-sets, practices, and behaviors at every level, and that is very hard to do.

I frequently talk to weight loss clients about how their bodies are their businesses. It’s not enough to have a goal to start a new business (a weight loss journey) or maintain a successful business (goal weight maintenance). To achieve and sustain transformational change (the new, slimmer body), they must embed new mind-sets, practices, and behaviors all along the way.

Whether it’s your business-business or your body-business, and as I tell my clients every day (so often in fact that when I start saying it, they recite it along with me):

“You get the results of the actions you take.”

Same actions? Same results.

Nothing happens by magic.
