Adopt a New Holiday Eating Philosophy This Year

They’re baaaaack . . . the holidays . . . one right after the other . . . . Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s Eve. There’s barely time in between to catch a breath — which is why so many people just “let it rip” with their eating and drinking for two months, telling themselves they’ll get back on track January 1! Again!

Consider adopting new holiday season party-going habits this year.

✅ 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞 #𝟏: 𝐃𝐎 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 “𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦” 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲! By the time you get there, your blood sugar will have dropped, and you’ll end up eating the first thing you see.

✅ Eat a healthy meal before the party. You’ll be less likely to overeat once you get there.

✅ Need a dish to pass? Bring a healthy one . . . a fruit tray, a vegetable dish, low fat vegetable chili, frozen yogurt pie.

✅ If a small appetizer-size plate is not available, carry your appetizers on a napkin, not a larger plate. You are more likely to fill up a larger plate, even if you aren’t hungry.

✅ Bring your own dessert: a fruit platter, for example, or pack a few tea biscuits.

✅ Eat a variety of foods in smaller quantities.

✅ Beverages can make or break your entire day. Opt for flavored seltzers or wine spritzers.

You 𝒄𝒂𝒏 change your holiday eating habits. After all, once the Hanukkah menorah is packed away and the Christmas tree is at the curb, you don’t want to be left with five or ten pounds of holiday memory, do you?
