Are You Forever Running After Time?

Too often I hear “I don’t have time” . . .

. . . to follow the program; or
. . . to weigh and measure; or
. . . to plan a diary; or
. . . to grocery shop; or
. . . to prepare and pack meals and snacks for the next day; or
. . . to keep an appointment with me; or

. . .  blah blah blah blah blah . . . to infinity and beyond.

You say: “I don’t have time.”

I hear: “It’s not a priority.”

You say: “I’m too busy.”

I hear: “I don’t manage my time effectively.”

You say:

“I have too much going on.”
“I’m overwhelmed.”
“My schedule is crazy.”

I hear: “I need to learn to say NO.”

If you’re overweight or obese, what you claim you don’t have time for is more important than anything else.

STOP wearing the “busy blanket” over your head to shield you from seeing reality.

STOP with the excuse that you don’t have the time.

There’s NEVER enough time.
There’s NEVER a good time.
There’s NEVER the right time.
There’s NEVER a convenient time.

Here’s reality:

Do nothing, get sick and you’ll long for time.
And when you’re dead . . . you’re out of time!

A favorite quote is from Lord Edward Stanley, Earl of Derby (1826-1993), a British statesman who said in his “The Conduct of Life” address at Liverpool College on December 10, 1873:

“𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘰 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭, 𝘴𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘳 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴.”

The key to not having to run after time—to, in fact, have time left over in a given week—is organization.

The key to being successful—at weight loss, at business, at school, with any endeavor or project—is organization.

I don’t care how smart someone is, how well educated they are, or even what their potential is, if they can’t manage their way out of a paper bag because they are forever running hither and thither after their own tail and trying to “squeeze stuff in,” they will not be successful and they will have a whole lot of stress in their life.

When you are methodical towards your end goal, when you time-block for the must-do’s each day and each week, when you have the tools in place to make those must-do’s happen, THEN you have a “system” in place—the structure—that almost guarantees you’re going to achieve exactly what you set out to do. And, on top of all that, in the end, you’ll have time left over to do . . . absolutely nothing! To chill, relax, regroup, read, go to the gym, etc.

Time waits for no one.

Time passes, with you or without you.

To your benefit or to your detriment.

Time is precious.

Use it wisely.
