There’s a reason why overweight and obese women have problems with ovulation.

The first group of organs (in both women and men) impacted by excess body fat is the reproductive system.

The more fat a woman has, the more testosterone she will have, resulting in an imbalance between her male and female hormones, with the former playing a more dominant role in her body. This can result in no menstrual cycles, or multiple cycles in a month, or longer and more excessive cycles. (However, even regular menstrual cycles don’t guarantee that ovulation is occurring.)

Additionally, almost all obese women are at or very near to the insulin resistant stage — pre-diabetic — and that affects their ovaries, causing PCOS (the #1 cause of infertility in women). This leads to poor ovulation, no production of eggs or production of non-viable eggs.

Weight loss in obese women have been proven time and again to restore the menstrual cycle and ovulation and improve the likelihood of conception.
